AREAS OF PRACTICE
Domestic relations law:
The attorneys at Bradley Frick and Associates have extensive experience in domestic relations law. With over 60 years of combined experience we’ve “seen it all.” In fact, we have managed, litigated, negotiated, and resolved a vast variety of cases covering almost every conceivable issue. This experience has resulted in our being experts in this area of the law, poised to guide you through a difficult time in your life. Whatever your domestic relations issue, Bradley Frick & Associates will guide you through each step, attending to each detail without losing sight of the big picture. You can rest assured that we will proceed confidently, always working to achieve your goals and helping you make good legal and business decisions.
Divorce
A divorce is a contested lawsuit where one spouse files a “complaint” requesting that the court terminate the marriage. In the divorce process, the court will preside over the determination of both temporary and long term custody and parenting time, if there are minor children of the marriage, as well as the division of assets and liabilities and child and/or spousal support, if applicable in your situation. Our team at Bradley Frick and Associates is well-respected by court personnel, and are trained to work within the court system to obtain and analyze the information needed to achieve your goals, and to prepare your case for settlement or trial to the court, if necessary. We are master negotiators, armed with the experience and expertise to advise you of your options and negotiate the best possible result for you. If a trial is required, the team at Bradley Frick & Associates engages in meticulous preparation to attempt to achieve the best possible outcome for you, always advising you of the pros and cons along the way so you can make thoughtful, well-reasoned legal and financial decisions.Dissolution
A dissolution is a termination of the marriage by agreement on all terms, from the division of the forks and spoons to spousal support to all of the children’s issues, if applicable. A dissolution has the same outcome as a divorce, meaning the marriage will terminate, the property will be divided and the children’s issues will be decided when the case is finalized. However, dissolutions can be quicker, less expensive, and less stressful than divorces because the parties are working together to reach an agreement without court involvement. Our attorneys work with you to determine whether a dissolution is the best path for you to take and, if it is, we will assist you with negotiating and formalizing your agreement. Our team will ensure that the agreement you reach resolves all issues thereby making it easy for the court to approve your agreement and minimizing your need to return to court in the future.Child Custody/Parenting Time
Bradley Frick and Associates is experienced in handling high conflict custody and parenting time issues, both during and after the divorce or dissolution process. Our team will take the pressure off of you by assisting you in handling sensitive issues you may have with your spouse regarding disputes surrounding the children. All of our attorneys and staff are parents themselves, thus we can sympathize, understand, and relate to the issues that can arise involving children and divorce and offer you our expertise both as lawyers and parents. Should you need a Guardian ad Litem to help determine what is in your children’s best interest, our team has excellent working relationships with many Guardians in the Central Ohio area and beyond.Child Support/Spousal Support
Child support and spousal support issues can arise within the context of a divorce, a dissolution, or post-decree (after your divorce/dissolution has been completed), because child support is always modifiable until the children reach the age of majority (generally defined as age 18 and graduated from high school) and spousal support may be modifiable in certain circumstances. The attorneys at Bradley Frick and Associates have a wealth of experience in child support and spousal support matters, are well-versed in the current laws surrounding these issues and use their expertise to inform you of the rules for determining support so that you will make a sound financial decision. If necessary Counsel will advocate on your behalf to ensure that support is determined fairly under the law.Parentage/Custody/Support for Children of Unmarried Parents
All of the skills and expertise that attorneys at Bradley Frick and Associates use to assist clients in the termination of their marriages carry over in dealing with domestic relations matters for unmarried parents. Litigation in cases involving unmarried parents (a majority of children in the U.S. are now born out of wedlock) has grown along with the growing acceptance of the nontraditional family model. Bradley Frick and Associates have been representing unmarried clients in custody, parenting time, support, and parentage cases since 1986. Competent counsel is required in this area, along with an extensive knowledge of the differences in the law as it applies to unmarried parents as opposed to married parents, including the differences between domestic relations court and juvenile court.
Ethics
Bradley Frick has served for many years on the Columbus Bar Association’s Certified Grievance (Ethics) Committee and has litigated ethics cases at all levels, including the Ohio Supreme Court. He is frequently sought after by both litigants and counsel to represent them in cases involving potential breaches of the Ohio Code of Professional Responsibility. Brad has handled cases involving judicial officers and practicing attorneys. He handled one of the largest ethics cases in Ohio history (42 volumes of evidence accumulated over more than 10 years). He has handled cases involving addiction, theft, and neglect. All of the ethics cases Mr. Frick handles are done discreetly and professionally.
OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association) Litigation
Mr. Frick has litigated and negotiated cases involving the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) since 1989. The OHSAA governs both high school and middle school athletics in Ohio. Cases include eligibility, participation, transfers, recruiting, etc. Clients have included individual athletes and their parents, teams, schools, school systems, and coaches associations. OHSAA has a very complex set of rules governing participation in interscholastic and non-interscholastic competition. Mr. Frick has extensive knowledge of these rules, particularly as they surround transfers of high school students from one school to another, academic eligibility, and residency requirements. This niche is also often inextricably tied to one of the firm’s other areas of expertise: domestic relations law, as many times questions of residency and eligibility come into play between divorced or separated parents. No other firm in the state is better equipped to handle these issues.
Broadcaster Representation
Brad is a former broadcaster, having worked for Taft Broadcasting prior to attending Notre Dame’s law school. Since 1979 he has helped broadcasters with their contracts with their employers and with their agents.
